Rules and Regulations
1. General 1.1 Washrooms and dressing rooms must be kept tidy .
1.2 Skaters must wear guards on their blades whenever they are walking around the arena complex in their skates.
1.3 Consumption of food or beverages and the chewing of gum is not permitted on the ice (Arena rule). Plastic water bottles are permitted
1.4 It is strongly recommended that skaters registered in PreSchool and CanSkate programs wear safety helmets during their skating lessons.
1.5 Skaters registered in the STARskate and Adult programs may use personal music devices with headphones while on the ice with permission from their coaches. Only one earpiece may be used while on the ice.
1.6 All members, their parents, and coaches of the club are subject to the rules and regulations of the club as well as those of Skate Canada and Central Ontario Section of Skate Canada .
2. Personal Property 2.1 The club assumes no responsibility for personal property which is lost, misplaced, stolen or damaged from the facilities in which the club operates.
3. Guest Skating Privileges (STARskate) 3.1 Club members, registered for the current season, will be allowed to guest skate in practices other than the ones in which they are registered provided space is available and that they have the appropriate skating qualifications.
3.2 Guest skaters must pay a guest skating fee, set by the Board of Directors, before they go on to the ice.
4. Skate Canada Test Days 4.1 Each STARskater will have access to a maximum of three Low Test Days and three High Test Days during the winter season. These test days are set by the Club.
4.2 The club reserves the right to pre-empt regular skating practices, including CanSkate and PreSchool, to accommodate the test days.
4.3 Members must follow the recommendations of their coaches when selecting tests to try on test days.
4.4 Club members who take tests outside the Elora and District Skating Club must have permission from both the club's Test Chair and Central Ontario (COS) of Skate Canada during the period 1st November to 31st March and permission from the Test Chair for the period 1st April to 31st October. Requests for permission for out of club tests should reach the Test Chair at least three weeks in advance of the test date.
4.5 Only the Test Chair of the Elora and District Skating Club may enter club members for Skate Canada tests during the period 1st November to 31st March.
4.6 All skaters taking tests must pay the appropriate test fees, set by Skate Canada, to the club.
5. Non Members of the Club 5.1 Non members of the club are permitted to guest skate on club ice and take tests provided they are registered with Skate Canada for the current year.
5.2 Non members who guest skate must pay $20 per session before they go on the ice and should notify the club prior to their first guest skate.
5.3 Non members who attempt Skate Canada tests with the club must have the appropriate permission forms from their home club and section office.
5.4 Non members attempting Skate Canada tests at the club must pay the Skate Canada test fees to the club as well as an additional ice and administration fee to cover test day expenses incurred by the club.
5.5 Non members' coaches who wish to have on-ice privileges during guest skating sessions should contact, in advance, the Board of Directors for permission.
6. Registration Fees and Refunds 6.1 All registration fees for the full winter season must be paid by 1st November.
6.2 All registered members, Program Assistants and Dance Partners must pay the Skate Canada annual registration fee.
6.3 There will be no refunds after 1st November for skaters who are registered for the full winter season.
6.4 The Board will only consider written requests for refunds and these requests must be sent to the President. Medical certificates and other documentation may be requested.
6.5 Members who are in arrears with payment of registration fees may be suspended from club activities and programs.
7. Complaints
7.1 Complaints must be made in writing.
