Whether you’re taking your very first stride or you’ve been skating for years, we have a program that’s just right for you. All our Skate Canada programs are led by NCCP-certified professional coaches.

We want every child to have the opportunity to learn how to skate! We have relationships with two organizations that assist with financial support to ensure that every child who wants to learn to skate, can.

Pre-CanSkate

Our Pre-CanSkate program is geared towards skaters aged 3 - 5. In this program, skaters learn basic fundamentals of skating appropriate for hockey, ringette, speed skating, and figure skating. A great starter program for virtually any ice sport! Lessons are provided in a group format and are led by a certified professional coach.

Session cost (1 night a week): $180 + Skate Canada fee

Tuesdays 5:00-5:30pm or Thursdays 5:00-5:30pm

Note: All skaters require a CSA approved hockey helmet, warm clothing, and mittens.

Pre-CanPower

The Pre-CanPower program is for skaters aged 4- 7 who are just starting in hockey but already have the ability to

  • fall down and get up on own

  • stand on skates in a balanced and stable position for a prolonged period of time

  • walk forward

  • move backward

  • make snow

Session cost (1 night a week): $200

Thursdays 5:00-5:30pm

Note: Full hockey equipment and a stick are required.

CanSkate

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. The CanSkate program focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development. Skaters progress at their own rate and earn badges as they learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are provided in a group format and are led by a certified professional coach.

Session cost (1 night a week): $245.00 + Skate Canada fee

Tuesdays 5:30-6:20pm or Thursdays 5:30-6:20pm

Register for both nights and receive $50 off.

Note: All skaters require a CSA approved hockey element, warm clothing, and mittens.

Shooting Stars

Our Shooting Stars program is for skaters who have completed CanSkate Stage 4. Shooting Stars is a transitional program for skaters who are keen to move on to the STARSkate program. Typically, a skater is invited to join when our coaches feel the skater is ready to transition into the program. Shooting Stars receive lessons in a group setting and also have some free time with our STARSkaters.

Season cost: $125-175 (1 night a week) or $350 (2 nights a week) or $700 (2 nights a week for the full season)

Tuesdays 4:00-5:30pm and Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm

Note: Fee includes group coaching and practice time.

STARSkate

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, free skating, and interpretive skating. Skaters in the STARSkate program receive private coaching to prepare for Skate Canada tests and competitions. All our coaches are professionally certified by Skate Canada and offer expertise in freeskate, dance, and skills.

Season cost: $300-$500 (base fee) + $175 per day of ice

Tuesdays 6:30-7:50pm; Thursdays 6:30-7:50pm

For an additional $50, STARSkaters can "drop-in" on Tuesdays or Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm.

Note: Fees do not include lesson fees (private coaching), test day fees, or competition fees.

Adult Synchro

Adult synchronized skating offers a fun way for skaters to pursue a lifelong passion for the sport of figure skating. Our adult SYS II synchronized skating team consists of 12 to 20 skaters who are minimum 18 years old. The team skates from September to March, ending the season appearing in local skating shows.

Sundays 8:00-10:00pm

Frequently asked questions

  • The CanSkate program is for all skaters. The program provides a solid background for all ice sports and is suitable for new skaters as well as those with some experience.

  • Skaters are assigned to specific groups on the day for which they registered and cannot attend a class on another day unless they make a permanent move to that class (only possible if there are spaces available.

  • We offer guest skating for a per use fee. Please contact us if you wish to attend any of our skate times.

  • Parents are not allowed on the ice unless they pre-register as a volunteer.
